Timothy has been a long time contributor to the "Richardson - Law School Bound" newsletter. As a recent law school graduate who is well qualified to comment on the old law school adage that:

- in third year they bore you to death.

Participate in your first law school class! This will be an amazing event for any pre-law student. Philip Slayton is a former professor and dean of the law school at the University of Western Ontario. He also practiced for many years at a large Toronto law firm. He will teach a first year contracts class using a real case. This is a must attend event for anybody seriously interested in law school. But you have to read and study the case in advance! (The case will not be distributed at the event.) You can find the case at:

Joint Law Degree Programs

Location: TBA

 

Why go to law school and get just one degree? Three of the six Ontario law schools now have joint LL.B./J.D. programs. These programs allow you to earn both U.S. and Canadian law degrees. Representatives from various law schools will be attending to explain their programs and to answer questions. The final list of participants will probably not be finalized until May 27, but for the moment you can expect:

The University of Ottawa and Osgoode Hall have indicated they will be sending a representative.

Peter Carayiannis, J.D.

Peter is a member of the bars of Ontario and Michigan and works as an "in-house counsel" for a Toronto firm. He is a graduate of the Detroit College of law and attended Osgoode Hall law school. He will entertain you with stories about his law school experience and tell you how he attended a U.S. law school and was admitted to the bar of Ontario.

Personal Statement Workshop

Applying to law school is a lot of work. It is important to do this work when it does not conflict with school. The purpose of this seminar is to help you get this done in the summer.

 

Locations: The locations posted are tentative - please check back the day before to learn about any possible updates!

 

Eligibility to attend: These short courses and seminars are available to both Richardson LSAT students and Non-Richardson LSAT students as follows:

 

Richardson LSAT Students: If you have paid in full or are attending any Richardson LSAT program you are free to just show up. You may pay for a Richardson LSAT course in full at the start of a seminar and attend for free. Those who are planning to take the LSAT in October Should take note.

 

Non-Richardson LSAT Students: You may attend any one of these seminars at a cost of $50 per seminar. Pre-registration is not necessary but payment must be made in cash at the door. (You may attend all seminars for a one time fee of $200. It is also possible that the May 28 event may be opened up as a free event! Check our site for updates.)
